The New York Jets have hired Frank Reich as their new offensive coordinator, multiple national reports confirmed.

After interviewing a number of candidates, head coach Aaron Glenn landed on the expected choice. Reich was always the favorite to win the job, and he now has.

Reich will possess full autonomy over the offense as the coordinator and play caller. Glenn is a defensive-minded head coach who will trust Reich to operate the offense.

If he also possesses any personnel say, the Jets could pursue a familiar Indianapolis Colts wide receiver this offseason.

Reich was the Colts' head coach from 2018-22. He was largely successful, claiming a 40-33 record to go along with two postseason appearances. One of Reich's most successful players was wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who the team drafted in the second round of the 2020 draft.

Pittman recorded a 1,000-yard season as a sophomore receiver under Reich's tutelage in 2021. This past season, injury limited Pittman to nine appearances and just 52 receptions for 561 yards. He has no guaranteed money left on his contract, leading many to believe he'll be an offseason cap casualty.

The Colts would save $24 million by releasing Pittman, according to OverTheCap. That's significant for a franchise that must re-sign Daniel Jones at quarterback, and also has young investments at the skill positions like Josh Downs and Tyler Warren. Fellow wideout Alec Pierce is also on an expiring contract, and after his breakout 2025 season, the Colts may prefer to keep him and let Pittman walk.

The Jets acquired wide receivers Adonai Mitchell (from the Colts) and John Metchie III midway through 2025. They both performed admirably in spots, but the future of the wide receiver position opposite Garrett Wilson remains in flux for the Jets.

Pittman is a name to watch with Reich coming to East Rutherford.
