Railway Minister to flag off new train service connecting Mizoram & Assam

In line with Indian Railways’ vision to strengthen connectivity and passenger-centric infrastructure in the North Eastern Region, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, will flag off a new train service between Sairang - Silchar and inaugurate new passenger facilities at Guwahati Railway Station through video conferencing on 9th February 2026. The initiative will mark a significant boost to inter-state connectivity while enhancing comfort, convenience and care for passengers. The event at Sairang Railway Station will be graced by Shri Lalduhoma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, marking another historic milestone in enhancing rail connectivity for Mizoram’s capital region. Shri Kanad Purkayastha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Assam, will also join the programme virtually, while senior railway officials and other distinguished dignitaries will be present at Sairang and Guwahati Railway Stations.
