KenPom predicts the winner of Auburn vs Alabama

· Yahoo Sports

The biggest game of the season for Auburn basketball comes on Saturday when they travel to face rival No. 16 Alabama. Anytime these two rivals meet in any sport, it is a big game, but for the Tigers, it takes on extra importance. As Auburn enters the final game of the season, it is currently listed as one of the first four out by ESPN's Joe Lunardi in his latest bracketology. A win over Alabama would certainly help Auburn move up in the field.

In the first meeting of the season, Alabama defeated Auburn 96-92 on February 7th at Neville Arena. Auburn held the lead for 60% of the game, and was up by 10 points at one point in the game. The Tigers also outrebounded Alabama 35-30 and won the paint battle 48-38. Auburn struggled to contain Alabama on the offensive end, with the Crimson Tide shooting 54%. They also connected on 12 three-point shots.

If Auburn is able to win the game, it will be a big upset. KenPom is giving the Tigers a 22% chance at victory, and Alabama is predicted to win 93-84. Auburn will need to slow down the Alabama offensive production. The best way to accomplish that will be to slow down their own possessions. Tahaad Pettiford has played well the last two games, scoring 24 and 27 points against Ole Miss and LSU. Auburn will need more than just one player against the Crimson Tide to come away with a win.

Auburn and No. 16 Alabama are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. CT, and ESPN will broadcast the game.
