Chelsea posted on their website yesterday afternoon:

‘Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce that Academy defender Landon Emenalo has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until at least 2031.

‘The 18-year-old has also been involved with the men’s first team, appearing on the bench for last season’s UEFA Conference League fixture against Legia Warsaw and the Premier League trip to Liverpool, as well as the UEFA Champions League win over Pafos in the current campaign.

‘In international football, Emenalo has previously represented the USA at youth level and, more recently, England’s Under-18s team.’

In other news this week

Saturday was a good day for Chelsea left backs – Jorrel Hato had a good game and Marc Cucurella returned from his hamstring injury to help Chelsea beat Wrexham 4-2 in the FA Cup after extra time.

Hato might be needed for another important game this week – it all depends on what the physios say about Marc Cucurella.
