The deal has just $2 million guaranteed on a two-year deal with incentives that could bring it to as much as $5.5 million.
The fifth-year veteran adds an extra blocker to clear paths for second-year running back Ashton Jeanty. As far as touches, Heyward saw just 18 last season -- 15 carries and three receptions.
Connor is the brother of Steelers star DT Cameron Heyward and both are sons to former NFL running back Craig 'Iron Head' Heyward.
The 6-0, 230-pounder entered the NFL as a sixth round pick out of Michigan State and was originally used at tight end for the Steelers, catching 23 passes in his second season in the league.
