The Kansas City Chiefs have made some shrewd moves this offseason, but none has been bigger or better than the Kenneth Walker signing.
Fresh off a Super Bowl MVP win, Walker joins the Chiefs, as Andy Reid's offense now has a genuine star in the backfield.
The run game last season for Kansas City was poor, but now with the introduction of Walker, the Chiefs could have one of the better units in football.
And for Bleacher Report's Alex Kay, who has ranked the top running back rooms in football, he has the Chiefs as the third-best room in football.
"The Chiefs overhauled their backfield this offseason, making moves that could help the fading dynasty re-emerge as a Super Bowl threat in 2026," Kay wrote. "After struggling through the 2025 campaign with the tandem of Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, both failing to breach even a modest four yards per carry, Kansas City parted ways with its incumbents.
"It secured Kenneth Walker III to lead their backfield. Working behind Walker will be some combination of Brashard Smith and Emari Demercado."

Will Chiefs shift offensive plan?
Last season, Mahomes threw the ball all over the yard, mainly because, with no run game, he had to.
So, it would make sense that in 2026, with Walker as the lead back, the Chiefs dial back Mahomes' attempts and get the run game rolling, right?
Yes, I get it. It sounds odd to take the ball out of Patrick's hands, but he can't be throwing it 35+ times in a game each week. We saw what happened last year.
With Walker, there isn't a need to have Mahomes throwing all the time; instead, a more balanced approach might be better for the offense.
