Dolphins restructured two contracts, created $8 million in cap space

· Yahoo Sports

The Miami Dolphins haven't had much cap space to work with, but they've still made several signings (mostly one-year deals) this offseason to fill out their roster for the 2026 season.

With that, the Dolphins needed some more money to work with, so they restructured the contracts of running back De'Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer this week to create cap space.

For Achane, Miami converted $4.6 million of his salary to a signing bonus and added four void years to the deal. This created $3.7 million in cap space this year.

The Dolphins converted $5.25 million of Brewer's salary into a signing bonus and added a single void year to the end of the deal, creating $4.2 million in cap space for 2026.

Both of these players are seen as cornerstones for the Dolphins under their new regime, and with both contracts set to expire at the end of the year, Miami will need to get them both to sign extensions.
