Man, 60, accused of killing woman in North York

A 60-year-old man is now accused of killing a woman who was found slain in a North York home earlier this month.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a call at the home near Threadneedle Cr. and Cresthaven Dr. – south of Steeles Ave. E. – around 1:30 p.m. on March 11.

“It is reported that the victim was located deceased inside a residence,” police previously said in a statement. “The circumstances in which the victim was found were deemed to be suspicious.”

Investigators subsequently identified Xian Wei Shao, 60, of Toronto, as the victim.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and the woman deemed to be the city’s fourth homicide victim of the year.

Police now say a Toronto man has been arrested for the woman’s killing.

Sheng Long Wang is charged with second-degree murder.

He was taken into custody and was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Saturday.

The allegations against the accused have yet to be proven in court.

While the accused and the victim share the same surname, police have not revealed what relationship, if any, existed between the two.

No further details have been released by investigators, so it’s unknown how the victim died or what the possible motive for her killing may have been.
