HUTCHINSON, Kansas (KMID/KPEJ) – No. 1 Howard defeated No. 17 Daytona State 96-75 in the second round of the NJCAA D1 National Tournament. The Hawks trailed 49-42 at halftime, but after a big second half, they punched their ticket to the quarterfinals.

As expected, Terry Copeland Jr. led the way for the Hawks with a double-double, scoring 31 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Following Copeland was Brandon Ivery with 21 points and eight rebounds.
No. 1 Howard will play in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday at noon.
