The Steroid Era changed things a bit, but 500 home runs is still 500 home runs, especially for guys who are believed to get there in a clean manner.
Giancarlo Stanton simply hits home runs by being bigger and stronger than everyone else. And he's getting closer to 500.
The New York Yankees' DH hit his first homer of this new season on Friday in San Francisco. It was a no-doubter.

Yep, when Stanton hits them, they stay hit.
That's the 454th home run of Stanton's career. No active player has hit more.
He currently ranks 40th in MLB history, one spot ahead of Carl Yastrzemski.
The next spot Stanton is chasing is still a chunk of home runs away. Tied for 38th in MLB history are Jose Canseco and Adam Dunn. They each hit 462 homers.
Stanton seems unlikely to hit 47 home runs this season to get to 500 in this campaign. But it's a lot more realistic to think that Giancarlo has a chance to make it happen in 2027, if he stays healthy.
It'll definitely be a special thing to track for Yankees fans, and those who have watched Stanton since he began his career with the Marlins. He's one of the best home run hitters of this latest era of baseball.
