New Delhi: Delhi Directorate of Education has instructed teachers to hold interactive introductory sessions, help students share their aspirations, and assess learning gaps as schools across the city opened for the 2026-27 academic session on Wednesday.

According to a DoE circular issued on Tuesday, the focus in the opening days will be on creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment to help both returning and newly admitted students adjust to new classes and peer groups.
Teachers have been asked to interact with parents and guardians to understand their expectations and update student records, it stated and added that they will also present an overview of the syllabus, outlining learning objectives and academic expectations for the year.

The guidelines also stressed the timely distribution of textbooks, proper signage across school premises, and deployment of staff at entry and exit points to guide students in an orderly manner.
