Bob Does Sports is a YouTube gold channel that follows Robby Berger (Bobby Fairways) and his friends Nick Stubbe (Fat Perez) and Joseph Demare (Joey Coldcuts).

The account has 1.36 million subscribers on YouTube. They have dabbled in the sports world before, as they were joined for a video by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold and Bills QB Kyle Allen in 2024. The QBs dominated the competition, and fans got to see a different side of the players.

On April 2, the Bob Does Sports account dropped a video that featured the classic squad playing a round with NBA legend LeBron James. The Lakers great said that when he turned 40, he wanted to find a hobby that challenged him and that he was bad at so that he could work to improve. He said he landed on golf, and in the video, said that he had been playing for eight months.

James and the Bob Does Sports crew set out for a round of nine holes. Their goal was to play a best ball scramble and end the nine holes with a score of 5-under or better. They succeeded and finished 6-under.

Here is more on James playing a golf round with Bob Does Sports.

LeBron James golf swing

NBA players hitting the links have produced a wide range of outcomes. Michael Jordan is an avid golfer with a smooth swing. On the other end of the spectrum, Charles Barkley has an infamous swing that he has certainly improved, but is still often described as “ugly.”James said that he has only been playing for eight months. His swing is closer to Jordan than Barkley, but his golf game helps to humanize him. James’ backswing is solid, but his follow-through looks very awkward, leading to a wide range of shot results and inconsistency. The video below isn’t from the episode, and we don’t know when the Bob Does Sports collaboration was filmed. However, the clip does show his follow-through.

Ranking the best moments of LeBron James' round with Bob Does Sports

1. LeBron dogs the Grizzlies

When the group was about to start, they discussed the odds of James ever joining the Memphis franchise. The NBA superstar said the Grizzlies’ best chance to land him would have been in 2003 if they had won the lottery. James joked, adding, “Granted, if that happened, I may have pulled an Eli Manning.”This refers to Manning’s camp before the 2004 NFL Draft publicly stating that if he were selected first overall by the Los Angeles Chargers, he would not join the franchise. The Chargers did end up selecting Manning but immediately traded him to the New York Giants.

2. LeBron nails a birdie putt

On the third hole, the squad was staring down a birdie putt. They had been using James to find the line to give Bob, Coldcuts or Perez better looks. James proceeded to nail the putt. He went through a handshake line with the others and then imitated a Euro step, which is Perez's signature move after a big put. James and Perez then did the Euro step together, which Bob Does Sports fans will certainly appreciate.

3. LeBron ages himself

James talked about things that make him feel extremely old. He said the one he saw most recently was that he has played with 37% with all NBA players ever.

4. LeBron gets distracted by a wild coyote

James was mid-sentence, riding up to his ball. He and Bob were discussing what it is like hearing his name in songs. James turned to his right and was instantly distracted by two animals lying by the course. He said, "Is that a coyote over there just chilling or is that a dog? What is that? Holy sh--."

5. James and Bob's insightful conversations

The video itself is a must-watch for golf or basketball fans. Beyond the golf, the group’s conversations provide top-tier entertainment. James and Bob got into a debate over whether they would rather have pancakes or French toast. While Bob said he preferred French toast, James went into a detailed scenario about having the best version of each, and he spoke fondly about the best pancake he ever had at Cracker Barrel.

6. James' top three highlights

Bob asked James what his top three highlights from his career would be. He and Bob both agreed that Andre Iguodala's block was his top highlight ever.

James' second-best highlight choice was an alley-oop dunk on Jason Terry against the Celtics

He said that while not one highlight, but his Eastern Conference Finals performance where he scored the last 25 points for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a double overtime win against the Detroit Pistons would be his best game.

7. LeBron got vulnerable about leaving Cleveland the first time

James talked about what it was like to leave the Cavaliers and decide to go to Miami. He said that it was a tough decision and there were multiple times that he would wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. and would just drive to a friend's house because he needed to talk to someone. James said that he was not in a good place a lot of his first year in Miami, but once he settled in it got better.
