There are a lot of names to keep an eye on when the transfer portal opens on April 7th. Kentucky Basketball will likely have a roster filled with mostly transfers next season, which is fine. That’s how Mark Pope’s first roster at Kentucky was built, and it got the Cats to the Sweet 16.

Another name is being added to the list in Liberty Flames guard Brett Decker Jr. According to Jacob Polacheck of KSR, “there are rumblings that Kentucky will be involved when he (Decker) hits the portal.”

This is an intriguing name because Decker is an Elizabethtown, Kentucky native and played at Central Hardin High School. While he was unranked coming out of high school, Decker has now built up a solid college career so far.

In 2025-26 with the Flames, Decker averaged 16.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.4 steals per game in 33.6 minutes per game. Earning First-Team All-Conference-USA honors, Decker also shot 49.9% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range. That would be a wonderful addition to a Mark Pope offense that lacked consistent 3-point shooting all season.

This sounds like a player who can fit Pope’s system and help the Cats get back to playing that way next season. In high school, Decker was the 5th Region Player of the Year as a senior and was named all-region, all-district, and a Mr. Basketball candidate.
