Jonah Hinton and Jahmere Tripp both made announcements on social media in coordination with the team. Each will be back with the Rams after transferring in from Atlantic 10 rivals ahead of last year.
Hinton was the club’s top scorer in three of its best wins during the 2025-26 campaign. Tripp enjoyed 20 games of double figures or more, and URI was just 1-4 in games he missed due to injury. They’ll both be listed as seniors on the roster.
Hinton finished second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points and added 3.0 rebounds. He led the Rams with 76 made 3-pointers and was second with 60 total assists. Hinton started in all but two of his 29 appearances after arriving from St. Bonaventure.

Hinton helped key victories over Yale, Temple and eventual league champion Saint Louis. He netted 24 points in a road win against the Bulldogs, tossed in 25 in a triumph against the Owls and hit for 29 in an 81-76 thriller against the 18th-ranked Billikens at the Ryan Center. Hinton connected on nine 3-pointers against Saint Louis, tying program legend Tyson Wheeler for the single-game URI record.
Hinton sputtered down the stretch after a lower-body injury forced him to miss three straight games. Saint Louis was the only time in the last nine games he reached double figures. Hinton closed just 7-for-43 from 3-point range over his last six games, including 2-for-4 in a conference tournament defeat against Duquesne.

Tripp closed third on the team in scoring at 12.0 points and added 4.3 rebounds per game. He was second in made free throws and third in made 3-pointers, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and steals. Tripp came off the bench in 17 of his 27 appearances, starting in eight of his last nine.
The Rams were 13-7 when Tripp scored in double figures, including two of their best league victories of the season. He netted 23 points in a home triumph against George Mason and 24 points in an overtime road win at Dayton. That gave URI coach Archie Miller an upset against the program he led to four NCAA Tournaments in the 2010s.
Tripp will enter a second year with the Rams after two previous years at Fordham. He could expand a perimeter game that included 41% shooting from 3-point range on just 83 attempts. Tripp didn’t attempt a shot from deep and closed with just five points in that 67-61 defeat against the Dukes.
URI will be looking for upgrades across the board after closing 16-16 overall and 7-11 against league opponents. Miller is entering the final year of his contract and has yet to deliver a breakthrough the Rams hoped they would see when they signed him prior to the 2022-23 season. Damone King is the lone URI player to date expected to enter the transfer portal, which officially opens Tuesday.
