The Baltimore Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Wednesday, but starting pitcher Kyle Bradish was lucky that his fifth-inning blunder didn't cost his team the game.

The right-hander was frustrated after walking Colson Montgomery to load the bases, and he took his time to get the ball after dropping the throw back by catcher Adley Rutschman. Chase Meidroth noticed and sprinted home from third base, giving the White Sox a 3-2 lead.

Bradish then struck out Andrew Benintendi to end the frame, but manager Craig Albernaz spoke to him in the tunnel afterward. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder opened up about the moment postgame, via The Baltimore Sun's Matt Weyrich.

“Just frustration came out. Unacceptable," he admitted. "That’s just childish behavior and that will not happen again.”

Although Bradish had an embarrassing moment, he still notched his first win of the season and is now 1-2. The right-hander gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over five innings.

It was a productive pitching day overall for Baltimore, as the bullpen tossed four shutout frames to end the contest and gave up just one hit. Right-hander Rico Garcia earned his first career save despite walking two hitters in the ninth.

Bradish needs as many positive outings as he can get, as he hasn't pitched a full season since 2023. The Arizona native had Tommy John surgery in 2024, which caused him to make just 14 starts over 2024 and 2025.

Bradish struggled as a rookie in 2022, going 4-7 with a 4.90 ERA over 23 starts. However, he bounced back with a breakout year in 2023, going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA over 30 starts. The Orioles need him to get back to that form, as he's their No. 2 starter behind ace Trevor Rogers.

Baltimore completed a three-game sweep of Chicago on Wednesday after getting swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates in its previous series. The club fell behind 2-0 in the second inning, but tied it back up in the third with an RBI double by Taylor Ward and an RBI groundout by Rutschman. Pete Alonso then scored on a passed ball in the sixth before Dylan Beavers hit a sacrifice fly to gain a 4-3 lead. Lastly, Ward hit another RBI double in the ninth.

The Orioles are now 6-6, and next up is a homestand against the San Francisco Giants, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Cleveland Guardians. Their next game is against the Giants at 7:15 p.m. ET on Friday.
