Teuvo Teravainen, Team Finland Fall To Canada, Will Play For BronzeTeuvo Teravainen and Team Finland went through heartbreak at the end of Friday's game, but they still have a chance to play for a Bronze Medal. At that point, Finland, which won the Gold Medal in 2022 when there were no NHL players, will play for the Bronze Medal on Saturday. They had to wait for the result of Team USA's match against Slovakia to learn their opponent.
With very little trouble, the United States ended the amazing run that Slovakia had been on in Milan. A 6-2 victory for Team USA put them in the Gold Medal game against Canada. The two rivals will have a rematch from the 4-Nations Face-Off championship a year ago.
Slovakia will face Finland for the Bronze Medal. This is a rematch of the very first men's game played in Milano Cortina. In that game, Finland was beaten handily by Slovakia.
The Finns bounced back nicely when Slovakia put them in a hard position by beating them as badly as they did. They didn't back down against rival Sweden to start 0-2, and it led them to an opportunity to medal. In a way, the Finns learned a lesson in that loss to Slovakia, but now they have a chance to get revenge.
Slovakia is a great team, but they don't have the NHL talent that the Finns have. Teravainen is a depth piece on this team, and he's a solid NHL offensive player. A chance to make an impact and come home with a medal is there for the taking.
