Bears earn mixed grades on NFLPA 2025 report card

· Yahoo Sports

The NFLPA may not be allowed to publish their annual team report cards anymore, but that didn't stop the grades from getting out for every NFL team, including the Chicago Bears. Kalyn Kahler of ESPN obtained the report cards from the NFLPA for all 32 teams, and the Bears earned some high marks in some areas, as well as a few lower grades in others.

This is the fourth season in which the NFLPA has dished out grades for each team with reviews from players, but it's the first year the full results aren't available to the public. Nevertheless, Kahler was still able to get each letter grade for the different areas of review. These include facilities, training staff, nutrition, coaching staff, front office, and more. Below is how the Bears graded out in each of their areas:

  • Treatment of families: C+
  • Home game field: C
  • Food/dining area: B
  • Nutritionist/dietician: A
  • Locker room: B+
  • Training room: B
  • Training staff: B
  • Weight room: A
  • Strength coaches: A-
  • Position coaches: B-
  • Offensive coordinator: A-
  • Defensive coordinator: C+
  • Special teams coordinator: B-
  • Team travel: B-
  • Head coach: A
  • General manager: A-
  • Team ownership: A-

Overall, the Bears finished 13th overall, one place higher than last year's ranking. Their biggest gain, unsurprisingly, was at head coach with the arrival of Ben Johnson. He earned an A for his job helping lead the Bears to an 11-6 record to capture the NFC North division title. A year ago, the combination of Matt Eberflus and Thomas Brown earned a C. Another big improvement was the food and dining, which improved to a B grade after getting a C+ a year ago.

Other notable areas included an A- grade for offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who has since taken the same role with the Baltimore Ravens. It seems Doyle made a strong first impression as an offensive coordinator despite being just 29 years old at the time. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen earned a C+, even though he had his unit taking the ball away at a staggering rate.

Finally, the Bears remained consistent in a number of areas compared to last year's results. Players seem to like the weight room and locker room, while George McCaskey earned an A- for the second year in a row. Their treatment of families can still be improved, however, which received a C+ for the second year in a row.

Although we won't get the full breakdown regarding the results like in years past, it's good to know the Bears are still near the top of the league in most categories according to the players. And they improved in the most important areas as well.
