Such was the case for Michigan basketball on Friday, facing Ohio State for a third time this season, but the game was nothing close to easy for the 1-seeded Wolverines against the 8-seed Buckeyes. The maize and blue jumped out to an 11-point lead, but OSU clamped down defensively, and the game ended up being close most of the way through. Ohio State took its first lead midway through the second half, but Michigan held the Buckeyes at bay on the back of a strong defensive performance to make up for a middling offensive one.
After the game, several in the media as well as notable personalities reacted to the third win over Ohio State this year. Here are the best reactions found on X (formerly Twitter).

Playing tight games in March will only make this Michigan team better. It never truly felt out of control but they did what they had to do to get the job done. Onward.

Huge win for Michigan. No team has ever won a national title that hasn’t at least advanced to the conference semifinals. Guess they can still win the whole thing. That’s fun!

WDIV's Derick Hutchinson
That's not the same Ohio State team Michigan blew out a month ago. The Buckeyes have gotten a lot better. Found a way to win without shooting well from beyond the arc.

I thought Trey McKenney hit some big shots early and made excellent defensive stands in crunch time.

Ton of credit to Ohio State. Played the better and tougher game today. Just doesn't have enough talent.

It was far from pretty, but the Wolverines survive the Buckeyes, who made just 2 of their final 12 shots.

Michigan found a way to win a game where Yax scored 6 points. Gutted this one out. Credit the defense for holding OSU to 38% from the field.
