Former Dolphins OL signs with NFC West team in free agency

· Yahoo Sports

While the NFL has slowed down over the last week or so after their opening free agency rush, there are still a few players signing with new teams every day.

Tuesday night, that list of players signing included former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Robert Jones, who signed with the San Francisco 49ers.

Jones, 27, played collegiately at Highland Community College and Middle Tennessee before signing with the Dolphins in 2021 as an undrafted free agent. He spent five years with the Dolphins and played in 49 games before leaving for a deal with the Dallas Cowboys last year.

The versatile offensive lineman who played guard and tackle in Miami, suffered a broken bone in his neck during training camp and missed the entire 2025 season.

Now, he'll get a chance to either start at left guard for the 49ers or back up multiple positions along the line in front of Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey.
