Construction of the world's largest stadium begins! (Official)

Vietnam is thinking big—very big. On the outskirts of Hanoi, construction of the "Trong Dong" stadium has officially begun, with a bold ambition: by 2028, to build the largest football arena on the planet, with a staggering capacity of 135,000 seats. This colossal project goes far beyond the sporting world, forming part of a wider regional influence strategy. Designed to host major competitions, from the Asian stage to global events, this venue aims to put Vietnam firmly back on the map of leading host nations.

The architecture, inspired by the bronze drums of the Dong Son civilization, carries strong symbolic significance. At the official unveiling, authorities stated: “The 'Trong Dong' stadium is being developed with the same strategic vision as the world’s other great stadiums, focusing not only on its sporting function but also aiming to become an architectural and cultural icon representing Vietnam in a new era.” The venue, featuring a giant retractable roof, will be primarily dedicated to football to maximize the spectator experience.

Beyond sheer size, the project is designed to be modern and sustainable. Conceived as a "green" infrastructure, it will incorporate rainwater recycling systems, natural ventilation, and intelligent crowd management. Integrated into a future Olympic city, "Trong Dong" aims to combine architectural might, international prestige, and environmental responsibility.
