Texans a potential trade destination for Pro Bowl RB De'Von Achane?
· Yahoo Sports
While the Houston Texans plan to add a running back this offseason, no one ever said it had to come only via free agency.
Joe Mixon's time with the franchise is likely up after he missed all of last season with a disclosed injury. Given that only Woody Marks remains on the roster with meaningful reps, the Texans must add depth to bolster their run game if they plan on making a run to the postseason.

Most see names lined up for Houston include Panthers starter Rico Dowdle and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. The Texans could also go into the draft for a name, pairing Marks with a player like Notre Dame's Jadarian Price or Washington's Jonah Coleman.
But one name that could also be in play? Miami Dolphins starter and Houston native De'Von Achane. According to the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan M. Alexander, should Miami enter a fire sale, the Texans would likely inquire about the Pro Bowl back entering the final year of his rookie contract.
"A potential trade could include Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane," Alexander wrote. "The Texans made a similar move two years ago."
Achane, who is entering the final season of his rookie pact, is also interested in a contract extension. New Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan touted both wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and Achane for their skills and said the Dolphins are not "actively trying to move" either player in a trade, but would listen to offers.
At this point, everything comes down to pricing. The Texans have the compensation to strike and land Achane via trade, but what's the lowest they could spend? A third-round pick? That seems unlikely.
How about one of the two second-round selections? If anything, the Texans could ship off their Day 2 pick acquired in the Laremy Tunsil deal with the notion that Achane would sign a long-term deal should the two sides agree to a deal.
Achane is worth top dollar. In three seasons, the former Texas A&M product has averaged 1,019 yards and seven touchdowns, including finishing inside the top-five in rushing during the 2025 season. As a receiving threat, the Pro Bowler has totaled 172 career receptions for 1,277 and 13 touchdowns.
It's likely a pipeline thought for the Texans, but anything is possible, right?
